Tributes paid to Razzak and Abdul Jabbar in M'singh

Artistes of Sandipon Sangskritik Sangstha, a leading cultural troupe of Mymensingh, paid rich tributes to the two great figures of Bangladesh's entertainment industry, Nayak Raj Abdur Razzak and singer Abdul Jabbar, at a programme held at Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Friday.

The artistes rendered popular songs of Abdul Jabber and celebrated films where legendary actor Razzak acted, at the event titled “Surey Surey Shraddhanjoli”.

Chayan Sen, Shawkat Ali Manik, Atiqur Rahman, Masud Rana, Priyanka Karmaker, Rupa Sarker, Ashrafun Nahar, Peu Dey and others rendered some 23 songs including “Shatru Tumi Bondhu Tumi”, “Tumi Ki Dekhechho Kabhu”, “Beiman Bolo Beiman”, “Dukhho Kora Bandhu Tomra”, “Mukh Dekhe Keo Bhul Koro Na” and more.

Earlier, a discussion was held.

Additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) AKM Galib Khan, Zonal Settlement Officer Nurul Alam, Dr. Horishankar Das, Dr. Hossain Ahmed Golandaj, advocate Moazzem Hossain Babul and Mahbubul Alam addressed the discussion. Sandipon's director Mahbub Hossain Sharif chaired the event.

The speakers also remembered Razzak's evergreen films such as “Rongbaj”, “Darpa Churna”, “Neel Akasher Nichey”, “Maynamati”, “Jibon Theke Neya”, “Abirbhab”, “Je Agune Puri”, “Moinamoti”, “Swaralipi”, “Ashikkhit”, “Chhutir Ghanta” and more.

On Abdul Jabbar, the speakers said the artiste's powerful inspirational songs inspired Freedom Fighters during the Liberation War.

Many of Jabbar's best known patriotic songs like “Salam Salam Hajar Salam” will surely inspire the people to work for the country and its people, they also said.
