Tagore numbers at Chhayanaut's Srotar Ashor

Eminent Rabindra Sangeet artistes Pramita Mallick of Kolkata, India and Laisa Ahmed Lisa performed at a musical soiree, titled “Srotar Ashor”. The event was held at Chhayanaut auditorium on May 16. The artiste duo rendered 12 songs of 40 numbers that Kobiguru wrote on his sojourns abroad.  

Laisa Ahmed Lisa set off the event with songs like “Probhu, Toma Lagi”, “Takhon Tumi Chhile Na Mor Shongey” and “Ke Boshiley Aji Hridoyashoney” while Pramita Mallick performed songs such as “Pran Bhoriye Trisha Horiye”, “Pran-e Khushir Tufan Uthechhe”, “E Monihar Amaye” and “Chhutir Banshi Bajlo”.

Pramita Mallick is the foremost exponent of Rabindra Sangeet in India. Born and raised in Shantiniketan, she trained in Rabindra Sangeet under Tagore's direct disciple Sri Shantidev Ghosh and other eminent gurus like Kanika Bandopadhyay, Nilima Sen, Bishwajit Ray. After moving on to Kolkata, she received further training from Subinoy Roy, Suchitra Mitra and Subhash Chowdhury.

Born in a family of musicians, Laisa Ahmed Lisa was initiated into music by her father, late Dr. Mafiz Uddin Ahmed. Subsequently, she received training in Rabindra Sangeet from Waheedul Haq and Sanjida Khatun. Ustad Amaresh Roy Chowdhury and Ustad Rabiul Hussain were Lisa's mentors in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music. She is a teacher of Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut, member of Anandadhwani and a member of the Central Committee of Jatiya Rabindrasangeet Sammelan Parishad.
