Shohor Nama underway at two venues in the capital

A group art exhibition titled “Shohor Nama” was inaugurated at the Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct on March 2. The exhibition features works by Tayeba Begum Lipi, Najmun Nahar Keya and Shimul Saha and Kao Jun-Honn (Taiwan) while Salauddin Ahmed's work is being displayed at the Gyantapas Abdur Razzaq Bidyapeeth. The show will simultaneously continue at both the venues until 16 March.

Live art performances by Saleh Mahmud and Jewel A Rob along with an interactive discussion between the curators and the artists were held as part of the exhibition on March 3. 

“Shohor Nama” is a three month-long Dhaka city based art project curated by Mahbubur Rahman and organised by Britto Arts Trust. It is a part of a larger project encompassing six Asian cities called “Topography of Mirror Cities”, curated by Sandy Hsiu-Chih Lo of Taiwan.

Bengal Arts Programme is the exhibition partner of the final exhibition of “Shohor Nama” that showcases fresh works of five artists from Bangladesh and Taiwan and the archival materials of the previous displays of various art projects. A total of 50 artists and four filmmakers participated in the project where the artists explored how they respond to Dhaka city through different mediums.

The project's first public display was “Moving Object” which was held between January 30 and February 10 at Britto Art Space. It was an outcome of a three-week workshop participated by ten artists who created kinetic sculptures. Another three-day public display of the project featuring live art, film screening and graffiti on garbage containers were held from February 3 to 5 at Shahbagh and the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka.
