Rabindra Jayanti observed in Barisal

The 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore was observed in Barisal city on Sunday, revealing deep respect for the great poet of Bengali language and literature and a commitment to the creation and ideals of the poet. 

Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad, Barisal district, Charukala Barisal and other institutions organised day-long programmes at Ashwini Kumar Hall, Planet World children's park, Charukala art gallery and other venues.

The programmes included songs, poems, dances, dramas, exhibitions on paintings of Tagore, discussions and competitions on the poet's creations, and prize giving ceremonies.

Dr. Gazi Saifuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Barisal, Professor Ziaul Haque, chairman Barisal Education Board, SM Iqbal, president Barisal Sangskritik Sangathan Samanaya Parishad, Dola Gangopadhaya, Tagore artiste, Advocate Manabendra Batabayal, Nazrul Islam Chunnu, Mir Mujtaba Ali, Mukul Das, Kajal Ghose, Shamima Masud and other cultural, intellectual activists, addressed the programmes.

Several educational, cultural institutions, organisations including SCGM School, Udichi,   Barisal Natak Abriti Proshikkhan Kendra, Kheyali and Shabdaboli Group Theatre, Nattyam, Prantik and Tansen arranged elaborate programmes on this occasion.
