A memorable celebration on Abul Hayat’s 75th birthday

National Film Award and Ekushey Padak winning actor-playwright-director, Abul Hayat turned 75 on September 7. As he was out of the country on his birthday, the celebration took place at the Auditorium of Music, Dance and Recitation, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), on September 29.

Panchashaptatite Abul Hayat Udjapan Parishad was the committee formed to arrange the programme.

The evening focused on sharing the golden moments in the life of this notable artiste. His co-actors shared their memories with him. Bipasha Hayat recited a poem, which she wrote dedicating her father.

The evening, titled Panchashaptatite Abul Hayat, then unveiled the book, Sharthok Jonom Tomar Hey Shilpi Shunipun, which comprises of the memories with Abul Hayat shared by the numerous renowned personalities of Bangladesh.

Besides, a short film tilted Ginni, directed by Abul Hayat, was screened at the event, as a part of his birthday celebration. “I was five-year-old when my mother took me to the theatre. I observed a play by Amalendu Biswas, which was my first experience,” says the veteran actor.

A dance performance by Naomi Kamrun Bidhu took place, while Farhin Khan Joyita sang at the celebration.

Actor Nima Rahman and the General Secretary of Obhinoy Shilpi Shongho, Ahsan Habib Nasim, jointly hosted the event.

Senior artistes like Dilara Zaman, Dr Enamul Haque, Ataur Rahman, Sara Zaker, Dolly Johur, Khairul Alam Sabuj, media personality Nawazish Ali Khan were present, among others. Ataur Rahman moderated the event.
