“Nazrul in the 21st century” conference held at UU

Dignitaries attend the concluding day of the international conference titled “Nazrul in the 21st Century” held at Uttara University on November 22.

A two-day seminar titled “Nazrul in the 21st century” came to a close on November 22, at Uttara University, says a press release. The international conference was held at the university's School of Business, and was jointly organised by Uttara University, Bangla Language and Literature Department of Jatiyo Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh and Central University of Assam.

Political Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh HT Imam graced the programme as the chief guest on the concluding day, and expressed his delight about the initiative in his speech. Special guests at the event included  Bela Da of Assam University, India; Professor Emeritus Barunakumar Chakraborty, Rabindrabharati Unversity, India; Professor Afsar Ahmed, Jahangirnagar University; First Secretary of Education, High Commission of India Jishnu Prasanna Mukherjee; DG (Interim) of International Mother Language Institute Sheikh MD Kabedul Islam; Director of News at BTV Naser Ahmed; Professor Rahman Habib of Islamic University of Kustia; Researcher and DG of VAT and Investigation Department Dr. Moinul Khan.

Other speakers of the programme included Prof Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro VC of Uttara University and convener of the conference; Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman; Professor Emeritus and Nazrul researcher Rafiqul Islam; Chairperson of Bangla Department of Uttara University Professor Aysha Begum. VC of Uttara University Professor M Azizur Rahman presided over the session.
