Mahadev Saha's 70th birth anniversary observed in Mymensingh

Teachers and students of Bengali Department of Govt. Ananda Mohan College observed the 70th birth anniversary of poet Mahadev Saha at its auditorium on Tuesday.

The programme included a discussion, poetry recitation session, cultural function  and floral tributes.

Earlier, a discussion was held attended by poets, writers, journalists and academics.

Writer Al Maqsud, Dr Abdul Karim, poet Shamsul Fayez, columnist Anup Sadi discussed the life and works of the poet.

Professor Afzal Rahman of Govt. Ananda Mohan College's Bengali Department chaired the discussion while Shamim Siddique of the same department was moderator.

Mahadev Saha, a rare talent in the country's literary arena, has maintained his creativity said the speakers. He has enriched Bengali literature in different forms, drawing the attention of all sections of readers, the speakers added.

We can empathise with the poet's endless devotion to independence and the  Liberation War, the speakers concluded.

Recitation of poems of Mahadev Saha by the guests and students also entertained the packed auditorium.
