Lalon festival ends amidst festivity in Pabna

A two-day Lalon festival highlighting the spirit of mystic composer Lalon Fakir ended in Pabna amidst festivity on Saturday. The festival, organised by Lalon Shoron Parishad, was held at Pabna Town Hall premises.

Earlier, veteran revolutionist Comrade Jasim Uddin Mondol and leading Lalon artiste Farida Parveen inaugurated the festival on Friday. A discussion featured on the occasion, chaired by Zakir Hossain, convener of the festival organising committee.

Jasim Uddin Mondol spoke as the chief guest at the inaugural function, while among others, Farida Parveen, poet Shohani Hossain and educationalist Monwar Hossain Zahedi spoke, highlighting the works of Lalon.

Lalon's philosophy can bring peace and happiness to the world, the speakers said, adding that his songs inspired people to take the path of humanity.

Farida Parveen performed mystic songs of Lalon Shah, preceded by presentation by local artistes.

Prominent folk artiste Kiran Chandra Roy performed songs of Lalon on the concluding day. Leading Lalon researcher Abdul Mannan discussed the literary works of Lalon.
