Jatiya Nazrul Sammelan concludes

The three-day long Jatiya Nazrul Sammelan in Nilphamari concluded on Saturday night with captivating chorus “Dao Shourja  Dao Dhoirja”, performed by renowned artistes from Dhaka.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor as chief guest attended a discussion titled “Bidrohi Kabi O Bangabandhu” while Nazrul researcher and executive director of Nazrul Institute Md Abdur Razzaque Bhuiyan was the main speaker.

In his speech Asaduzzaman Noor said, “Bangabandhu and Nazrul both taught us to stand beside the oppressed and resist the evils and communal forces.”

 Noor informed the full house that with the keen interest of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, more branches of Nazrul institutes are likely to be set up in different districts in phases.

 Fifty local young artistes, trained in Nazrul songs, were awarded next.

 Earlier, Nazrul researcher, also executive director of Nazrul Institute Md Abdur Razzaque Bhuiyan delivered his speech on Nazrul and Bangabandhu as main speaker.

 “Father of the Nation brought the National Poet to Bangladesh from India in 1972 and arranged his accommodation with family in a house near his own residence at 32, Dhanmondi,” he said.

 Noted singers Khairul Anam Shakil, Kalpana Anam, Shahid Kabir Polash, Salauddin Ahmed and others rendered an assortment of songs on patriotism, love, nature and more.

Shahadat Hossain Nipu recited Nazrul's famous poem “Durgamgiri”.

Dhaka Art Theatre staged Nazrul's drama “Putuler Biye” amid big applause.

Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari presided over the ceremony while popular poet Rezauddin Stalin conducted the programme.

Nazrul Institute under cultural affairs ministry and district administration jointly organised the event.
