Independence Day observed in Barisal

Independence Day was observed on Saturday in Barisal with special programmes.

Barisal Reporters Unity (BRU) arranged a daylong exhibition on photos, documents and books on Liberation War at Bangabandhu Udyan – and a painting competition, tales from Liberation War and reception to Freedom Fighters at BRU premises on Saturday.

The tales from Liberation War and exhibition drew attention of a huge number of spectators, especially the Freedom Fighters and young generation. 

Barisal Sangskritik Sangothan Samanay Parishad (BSSSP), an alliance of the 26 major cultural organisations of the city, arranged three-day programmes including discussion, recitation, songs, dances, dramas and cultural performances at Barisal Central Shaheed Minar. They also organised a candlelight procession to pay tributes for the martyrs of mass killing on March 25, 1971. 

Barisal Islamia College also arranged an exhibition on the Liberation War, a cultural function and discussion in the college premises, inaugurated by Mohsin Ul Islam Habul, principal of the college.
