Curtains on Bharatnatyam fest at Chhayanaut

Following 'Rongoprobesh 2015' of Kolpotoru artistes on the opening day (July 24), the young dancers, their guru Amit Chowdhury and a guest artiste Arthy Ahmed performed solo, duet and group performances on the concluding day of the Bharatnatyam fest. The two-day festival, held at Chhayanaut's main auditorium, concluded on a high note.

Rajdeep Banerjee (nattuvangam), Sukumar Kutti (vocalist), N Shankar (mridangam) and Satyavishal (violin) accompanied the performances with live Carnatic music. They also presented a Carnatic music kacheri (concert), set on which Amit Chowdhury gave a brisk and lively Thillana.

The talented dancer set off the event with an engrossing piece Narasimha Kauthuvam and later showcased Varnam. Amit's immaculate display of dance mudra, artistic expressions and balanced movements seemingly earned many hearts.

The Kolpotoru Ensemble performed two devotional pieces – Aadyanjali and Subramanya Kauthuvam – both choreographed by Karti Ramgopal. In the first piece the dancer sought the blessings and grace of the divine mother 'Amba' while in the second piece, they demonstrated their visual poetry in praise of 'Subramanya' (Karthikeya).

Sankari Mridha offered a solo piece “Natesha Kauthuvam” while Zuairiyah Mouli and Shammy Akter performed a duet dance called “Shiva Padam”. Arthy Ahmed presented another solo piece “Padam Baro Krishnayya”.
