Bistaar marks first anniversary

Three-day Art Festival in Chittagong

Marking their first anniversary, Bistaar arranged a three-day festival, titled Bistaar Arts Festival at Chittagong Shilpakala 
Academy Gallery recently. 

The event opened with a group visual art exhibition, titled “Let the Good Times Roll”. Professor Abul Monsur; Wahid Malek of Daily Azadi and artist Anita Bhattachaya of India were special guests at the inauguration ceremony.

The ceremony featured concerts and other cultural activities at the outdoor stage of the Shilpakala Academy. Veteran author and cultural activist Begum Mushtari Shafi inaugurated the festival, while writer-journalist Abul Momen and internationally acclaimed sculptor Alak Roy were special guests. Classical flute maestro Ustad Azizul Islam presided over the session.

The event featured musical performance by Chittagong-based band The Bay of Bengal, indigenous band Ranjuny of Rangamati, and baul songs by Tuntun Baul and his troupe from Kushtia.

There were also the screening of two short films by Jean- Nesar Osman and Shabnam Ferdousi, namely “The Horse” and “The Springs of Desire” respectively.

Jago Art Center, Dhaka in collaboration with Nrityoshilpee Sangsthaa, Chittagong paid a dance tribute to Bulbul Chowdhury on the closing day.
