Bangladesh-Tripura Cultural Fest concludes today

Through hoisting flags of two countries, the artistes of both Bangladesh and Tripura, India danced to the song “Ei Sammelan Somobeto Hoye Gai Jiboner Jayogaan”. The first Bangladesh-Tripura Cultural Festival that began on Thursday at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's Nandan Mancha, was themed on “Muktijuddher Sutoy Gantha Sangskritir Malika” and featured art exhibition at National Art Gallery of (BSA) by the artists of Bangladesh and Tripura, solo and group presentation of recitation, rendition of songs and recital of dance on the opening day.

Through the performance, the artists expressed their feelings of holding this festival, tell the historical bonding and warm relations between peoples of the two countries and uphold the glorious days of Liberation War. The people of Tripura wholeheartedly supported our War of Independence in 1971.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith inaugurated the festival as chief guest. Professor Gautam Bose, Vice Chancellor, MBB University, Tripura;  Nasiruddin Yousuff, co-chairman of Bangladesh-Tripura Cultural Festival Council; Liaquat Ali Lucky, DG of BSA and Gautam Das, team leader of Tripura Cultural Representative Team graced the occasion as guests of honour.

Noted cultural personality Selim SH Chowdhury, member secretary of Bangladesh-Tripura Cultural Festival Council delivered the welcome address.  Ramendu Majumdar, Chairman of Bangladesh-Tripura Cultural Festival Council presided over the programme.

Tamanna Rahman and her troupe danced to several patriotic songs while Dhaka University Music Troupe, Dhaka Sangskritik Dal and singers of Bonhishikha and Kakborok (Tripura) rendered choral songs on the opening day. Noted singers -- Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury, Khairul Anam Shakil, Kiran Chandra Roy, and Tripura artistes – Sudeshna Datta, Shivprasad Datta, Tajuja Debbarma and Raja Hasan presented solo songs. Rahul Debbarman and Smita Lauhakar [of Tripura] presented solo dances.

The festival also had a discussion, a seminar, poetry recitation by Ratul Debbarman (Tripura), Akbar Ahmed (Tripura), Dr. Muhammad Samad (Bangladesh) and Jogomaya Chakma (Tripura) and staging of the play “Payer Awaj Pawa Jaye” yesterday at Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA.

Today's (January 21) festival will include a seminar titled “Itihash-Sangskriti Rakhibondhon-e Dui Janopod Bangladesh O Tripura” at 3pm. Harun Habib will present keynote at the seminar. Staging of a play “Harun Al Rashid” will follow at 6pm. Directed by Kumar Shankar Paul, Rupam Natyagoshthi (Tripura) will stage the play at Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA. 

A 60-member Tripura cultural team is attending the festival. The annual cultural festival in Tripura will be held next year.
