Emma Stone attached to star in “Love May Fail”

Emma Stone is attached to star in Columbia TriStar's adaptation of the Matthew Quick novel “Love May Fail”, sources have confirmed to Variety.

The story revolves around a woman who is coming off a demoralising end to her marriage to a cheating husband as she returns to her hometown determined to clear the name of her favorite English teacher, whose career was ended forcibly after a classroom scandal.

The film was originally at Sony Pictures but was brought over to the TriStar division. Mike White penned the script with the studio now on the hunt for a director.

Stone was most recently seen in the Woody Allen film “Irrational Man”, opposite Joaquin Phoenix, and “Aloha”, which was also set up at Sony. She recently reteamed with her “Crazy Stupid Love” co-star Ryan Gosling in “La La Land”, Damien Chazelle's follow-up to “Whiplash”.
