AVANCA INT'L FILM FESTIVAL: Cheers to Bangladesh

Bangladeshis were in the spotlight at the Avanca International Film Festival being held in the sleepy town of Portugal where director Abu Shahed Emon received  awards for “Jalaler Galpo” which was adjudged the best feature film and its lead actor Mosharraf Karim the best actor last year.

Traditionally at the festival award winners of the previous year are honoured on the inaugural day of the next year's event. Accordingly, Emon and producer Impress Telefilm Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar received the awards on July 28, along with other winners of the 2015 event.

Another reason for Bangladesh to cheer is that it is a role reversal for Emon. After his debut film was adjudged as the best last year, he is a member of the jury at the same festival this year along with jury head Luís Oliveira Santos of Portugal, Malte Wandel (of Germany), Moghadaseh Rouhi of Iran and Javi Navarro (of Spain).
