Chandni: In uncharted Japan for a performance

Chandni continues to wow audiences with her powerful acting. But there's another facet to the National Film Award winning actress: she's a talented dancer too. This morning she winged her way to Japan for a performance at a three-day dance festival. Just before her departure, the perky celeb talked to The Daily Star about her assignments and a range of other subjects:

What's the latest on the career front?

Chandni: I'm busy with rehearsals ahead of the dance festival in Japan. A 15-member troupe from our country will perform at the festival in Japan.

Where will you perform in Japan?

Chandni:  Awaduri Festival will be held in Japan's Waseca. For three days, we will stay there and I will perform a folk dance. Besides, we will join a road show. The country's NKH Television will beam a live telecast of the show.

How do you view your participation at such a grand festival?

Chandni: As a dance artiste it is a great achievement for me and my country. Many performers from different countries will perform at the festival, aside from some 20,000 Japanese dancers.

What else keeps you busy these days?

Chandni: TV plays. I play a negative role in daily soap “Dhaka Housewife” that is aired on Masranga Television. My other drama serial “Dag” is being telecast on ATN Bangla.

Which song of Bappa Majumder is your most favourite?

Chandni: It's “Kokhono Ichhey Hoy”, a Bangla adaptation of Eric Clapton's “Tears in Heaven”. It's a beautiful romantic ballad.

Who are your other favourite Bangladeshi singers?

Chandni: Partho Barua and Habib Wahid.

Are you happy with your persona as an actress?

Chandni: An artiste can never be satisfied. I just want to play roles that are still uncharted territory.
