[WATCH] Salman owns the ring in “Sultan” trailer

Salman and Anushka in a mock wrestling maneuver at the trailer launch.

The trailer of the much-awaited Bollywood film “Sultan” was launched at the Film city in Mumbai on Tuesday, by the film's leading pair Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma. The sports drama had attracted much hype before the teaser release with its release date clash with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Raees”.

The story zooms in on Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan), a wrestler from a small town in Haryana, who overcomes professional and personal hurdles in his life to achieve global fame by winning gold medals at major world events of wrestling.

The trailer takes Sultan through a journey of stardom, fall from grace, and redemption through intense passion and dedication. Anushka plays a female wrestler Aarfa and Sultan's love interest, and Randeep Hooda shines in his role as Sultan's cold, disciplinarian trainer.

The 50-year old Salman, who inspired every other 90s Indian youth to take up bodybuilding, looks comfortable on familiar turf of pushing his physical limits -- as he sheds sweat, tears and blood to tell an emotional, inspiring story of a man reaching for his dreams. Salman has admitted that most fight scenes in the film are real, against actual wrestlers and mixed martial artists, and without cables – and they took a toll on him.

The movie is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films banner, and is set to release this Eid.
