Abu Taher's solo at Chitrak

A retrospective solo painting exhibition of the renowned artist and Ekushey Padak recipient Abu Taher will begin tomorrow at Gallery Chitrak in Dhanmondi. The opening ceremony will take place at the gallery premises at 6pm.

The artist has been seriously unwell and has been hospitalised since May 2018, and thus will not be able to attend the exhibition in person.

Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest. Noted art critic Moinuddin Khalid will attend the event as special guest. Eminent artist Professor RafiqunNabi will preside over the ceremony. The exhibition will remain open from 10am to 8pm daily from July 29 July – August 8.

Abu Taher is an expressionist painter who works on large canvases. The artist often takes to nature for colour and form. Strong whirling, thick colours, broken lines and various vague shapes and forms dominate Taher's artworks.
