A Dhaka court today issued another arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in a defamation case filed against him for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a 'top Razakar'.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Masud Parvez ordered his arrest after accepting the case filed by Abdul Aziz, assistant general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Dhaka unit, today.

The court also directed the officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station to submit a progress report on his arrest by February 5 next year as the complainant, in his case, said he came to know about the matter from the daily newspapers on December 16 when he was at Kadamtali in the area.

On December 15, Tarique said Sheikh Mujib was a “big Razakar” for having banned the Awami League dubbing it a party of thieves himself.

The elder son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was speaking at a discussion programme, arranged by local BNP unit, at The Atrium in East London on the occasion of Victory Day.

With this, Dhaka court issued four arrest warrants against Tarique in defamation cases. He was sued in different other districts across the country over the same allegation.
