National Film Awards 2012 recipients share feelings
The National Film Awards-2012 were handed over to winners on Saturday, recognizing the best in our film. Prime minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the awards to 23 artistes and technicians in 24 categories, in a vibrant programme held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. The recipients were: Khalil Ullah Khan (Lifetime achievement), “Uttorer Sur” (best film), Faridur Reza Sagar (best producer for “Uttorer Sur”), Humayun Ahmed (best director, best story and best screenplay for “Ghetuputra Komola”), Redoan Rony (best script,
“Chorabali”), Shakib Khan (best actor for “Khodar Pore Ma”), Jaya Ahsan (best actress for “Chorabali”), ATM Shamsuzzaman (best supporting actor for “Chorabali”), Lucy Tripti Gomez (best supporting actress for “Uttorer Sur”), Shahiduzzaman Selim (best villain for “Chorabali”), Imon Saha (best music director for “Ghetuputra Komola” and best composer for “Pita”), Milton Khondokar (best lyricist for “Khodar Pore Ma”), Palash (best playback singer – male for “Khodar Pore Ma”), Runa Laila (best playback singer - female for “Tumi Ashbe Bole”), among others.
Winners of some of the major awards shared their feelings with The Daily Star after the ceremony.
Khalil Ullah Khan: I have been acting in cinema, theatre and TV for a few decades and have always been blessed with the love of cine-goers; I have actually won the National Film Award before, but being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award is a great achievement for me. I am really very glad to have received the prestigious award.
Shahiduzzaman Selim: At the time of working in “Chorabali”, I was determined to be the recipient of the National Film Award, as I played the character of Ali Osman from the bottom of my heart. That dream has come true. It is a great honour to be receiving such a big award. Every member of my family is very pleased to see me win my first National Film Award.
Jaya Ahsan: I am very happy to have won the National Film Award for the second time. I don't really think too much about awards; how I can do even better remains my focal point during the shooting. Above all, the responsibility is now much greater to deliver good performances consistently.
Shakib Khan: This is my second National Award, and I'm very grateful to Allah and my parents. It was a great pleasure for me that the audiences received the movie warmly. As an artiste, I have already been flooded with people's love. But when I am hounoured by the state, it's a serious honour. What drives me now is that I have to appear in more quality movies.
Shahnewaz Cacoly: I wanted to present its storyline based on North Bengal the viewers in “Uttorer Sur”. Bhawaiya song is very popular in the region but it is now on the verge of extinction due to western culture, and I tried to present it in the film. I'm very happy to have won the award, and aspire of making more quality movies.
