And Mashrafe is injured again

And Mashrafe is injured again

Star Bangladesh pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is all set to miss today's crucial game against Hong Kong in Chittagong as he is scheduled to travel to Dhaka in order to have an MRI scan on the right portion of his body today morning. Mashrafe sustained some damage to his right ribcage area during the first game of the ICC World Twenty20 against Afghanistan while attempting to save a boundary.
While the valiant effort did save some runs, it took its toll on the bowler. Despite the incident Mashrafe was deemed fit enough to play the second game against Nepal. As a precautionary step, Mashrafe will now be sent to Dhaka in order to get a better understanding of the injury.
The pacer had earlier suffered from a side-strain on the left portion of his body during the Asia Cup that led to his exit from that competition. That injury had also put his World Cup hopes in doubt.
The team management, in a bid to get Mashrafe ready in time for the big event made an attempt to expedite his recovery process -- an aspect which even led to them using a cortisone injection in the region to decrease his pain.
Following that Mashrafe continued his rehabilitation process by bowling five overs a day during training from March 12 onwards. His place on the team was finally re-confirmed after the player himself exuded confidence and passed a series of fitness tests.
The latest setback however has once again led many to expect the worst. The positive part though is that Mashrafe did train along with the team yesterday ahead of their third first-round game. While there's no doubt that the selectors and the team management want him to play, a clearer perspective can only be revealed after the scan.
The injury-prone player had earlier missed a cut in the 2011 World Cup due to a knee-injury he had suffered during the Dhaka Premier League that season.
