BNP standing committee member Abdul Moeen Khan today said the ruling Awami League does not believe in peaceful political programme, “so it is pushing the country to the verge of confrontation.”

“Awami League believes in looting, grabbing and autocracy and so it is pushing the country towards the politics of confrontation,” he said.

“We will hold our rally on January 5 at any cost. It will depend on the government whether the permission will be given or not,” he added.

He made the comment after placing wreaths at the grave of the party founder late president Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Banglanagar in Dhaka.

He along with a good number of leaders and activists of the party went to the grave this morning on the occasion of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s 36th founding anniversary.

The government failed from all corners, he alleged blaming Awami League to have been deliberately repressing its opposing party.

“Our anti-government programme won’t daunt,” he said.

Responding to a query over the recent seven-point proposal placed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, he said, “We run the party in line with our own political ideology.”

“We don’t care what Awami League thinks about our seven-point proposal,” he added.
