AL man shot dead in Laxmipur

Miscreants gunned down an Awami League activist in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early today.

The dead is Md Ahsanullah, son of late Habibullah and a resident of Nandigram village in the upazila, reports our Noakhali correspondent.

Ahsanullah came under the attack when he was going to Poddar Bazar adjacent to his house around 5:00am, said Wahiduzzaman, a sub-inspector of Dattapara Police Outpost.

Seven to eight armed miscreants intercepted him and shot him to death, the SI said quoting two fishermen who witnessed the murder.

The body of the victim was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.

The reason behind the killing was not known immediately, police said.
