Police recovered an AK-22 rifle with seven bullets, two magazines and ammunition at Kamalapur Railway Station this afternoon.

The firearm and ammunition were found in a bag lying abandoned on a pile of slippers inside the station, said Abdul Mazid, officer-in-charge of Dhaka Railway Police Station.

Earlier on Monday, police recovered a semi-automatic AK-22 rifle with eight bullets and two magazines, and powerful explosive materials from a Dhaka-bound train at the Airport Railway Station in the capital on Monday.

Two passengers -- Nurul Islam, 35, and Shamim alias Abdullah, 25, -- were arrested in this connection yesterday.

Law enforcers suspect that militant organisation might have wanted to use those modern arms and ammunition including two kilograms of power gel and 10 detonators, to carry out devastating activities in the capital.
