Ainun Nishat gets Nature Conservation Award

Water resource and climate change specialist Prof Ainun Nishat has got the Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Channel i “Nature Conservation Award 2014" for his contribution to the conservation of biodiversity, environment and nature of Bangladesh.

At an award ceremony held yesterday in Channel i Bhaban in the capital, Hasneen Muktadir, director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, handed over a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to Nishat while Dr Sarder A Nayeem, chairman of Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, gave him a certificate of complimentary treatment for lifetime.

Addressing as chief guest, Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju said it is hard for his ministry to work along for the conservation of the nature and he urged everyone to make their efforts.

Deputy Minister of the ministry Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director, Impress Telefilm Ltd/Channel i; and its director Muqeed Majumdar Babu, and also chairman of the foundation, were present among others.

A book "Amar Onek Reen Ache", written by Babu, was unveiled in the programme.
