Transparency International Bangladesh chairman Sultana Kamal thinks the accused in Narayanganj seven-murder case have not been arrested due to the government’s administrative failure.
Criticising the government’s inaction to bring to book the accused, she urged to act in this regard immediately.
A former adviser to the caretaker government, Sultana Kamal was taking to journalists after a programme on review of 'National Integrity and Strategy Papers' at Brac Centre in the capital this morning.
On April 27, Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were kidnapped from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road around the same time in broad daylight. Six bodies, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river on April 30, while the other was found the following day.
Meanwhile, members of the Border Guard Bangladesh last night arrested Hashmat Ali Hashu, one of the six persons accused in the case filed by Nazrul's wife, in Jessore border area last night.
Hashu was the third accused in the case and a close aide to prime suspect Siddhirganj Awami League leader Nur Hossain, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reported today.
