Veteran journalist ABM Musa has been kept on a life support system at Labaid hospital in the capital since Monday.

"Doctors kept him on artificial ventilation as his heart and kidneys are not functioning," said Dr Boren Chakraborty, a cardiology specialist of the hospital.

A pacemaker has been installed into his body to maintain normal heart rate and rhythm, the physician added.

The 83-year old journalist’s health condition was in a very critical stage, the doctor said today adding that it is gradually deteriorating.

Musa has been suffering from physical complications for many days.

He was admitted to the hospital on March 29 due to his old-age complications.

Family members of the eminent journalist urged people of the country to pray for his recovery.
