Narayanganj businessman Saiful Islam, who was abducted from Shanarpara Thursday night, was found in front of the National Mausoleum in Savar.
Saiful, 35, was found there around 11:30pm Friday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Khandakar Mahid Uddin of Narayanganj district told The Daily Star.
The victim was taken to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) 4 camp at Nabinagar in Savar, ASP Rawnak Alam told The Daily Star.
Saiful owner of Samia Rice Agency in Sonamia Market in Adamji, was abducted from Shanarpar area, said his wife Afrin Sultana.
The latest incident happened barely a day after the bodies of Narayanganj city councillor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river. The seven were kidnapped in broad daylight in Narayanganj on Sunday.
Nazrul and his four associates and Chandan and his driver were kidnapped separately, but around the same time soon after they came out of the court building. Police suspect the same group was behind their abduction and killing.
Narayanganj district lawyers association yesterday called a daylong hartal in the district for tomorrow, protesting the killing of Chandan Sarkar. The BNP, Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal extended their support to the strike.
Saiful's kidnap has taken the locals by surprise. Many questioned how someone can be abducted from under the nose of law enforcers.
Saiful went to his firm around 5:00pm on Thursday and did not return home after leaving his office around 9:00pm, according to his wife.
