A district-level Jubo Dal leader, who was allegedly abducted by some unidentified people from the capital’s Uttara on Thursday night, was found dead at Basurhat in Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Saturday.

Shamsul Islam Solaiman was a joint secretary of Laxmipur district unit of the BNP’s youth front and son of late Saidur Rahman of Syedpur village in Sadar upazila.

Mozammel Hossain, in-charge of Daserhat police camp, said after being informed by locals, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Solaiman and sent it to Sadar hospital morgue in the morning.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, he added.

However, Salma Islam Maya, wife of the slain Jubo Dal leader, alleged that some plainclothes police members numbering 8-9 had picked up Solaiman at gunpoint from in front of Joynal Market in the city’s Uttara area while he was returning home at about 11:00 pm on Thursday.

Later a case was filed with Uttara Police Station in this connection.
