Abducted college girl, SSC examinee rescued

Police in separate drives rescued a college girl and an SSC examinee from Rajbari and Chuadanga districts yesterday, over a week after their abduction.
On November 13, a gang of four, allegedly led by one Julhas Uddin of Harihorpur in Rajbari Sadar upazila, abducted the first year honours student of Kushtia Islamia College while she was waiting for a Kushtia-bound coach at Alamdanga bus stand in Chuadanga.
The 19-year-old victim hails from Chattarpur in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga, said Moniruzzaman Mollah, officer in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station.
On the same day, the father of the girl filed a case, accusing Almas Uddin, younger brother of Julhas, he said.
On secret information, a police team raided the house of Almas at Harihorpur village in Rajbari Sadar upazila yesterday morning and rescued the victim. However, none was arrested in this connection.
Almas claimed that the girl left her father's house to marry my brother Julhas as both fell in love.
In another drive, police rescued the 19-year-old girl from Ramnagar village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga yesterday.
The victim, a student of Fatehpur High School in Jhenidah district, is going to appear the SSC examination in February next year, said police and family sources.
One Saju Ahmed Milon, son of Abdus Samad of Ramnagar village in Damurhuda upazila, kidnapped the girl of Rakhalpota in Mohespur upazila of Jhenidah when she was returning home from her school on November 16.
Following a case filed by the victim's father, police raided Saju's house yesterday and rescued the girl.
They later arrested Saju from the spot on charge of abducting the schoolgirl, said Kamruzzaman, officer in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station.
However, Samad, father of Saju, said his son and the girl loved each other.
