A TIME LONG LOVE affair

A TIME LONG LOVE affair

The Bengali belle adores it; the men love to see women in it and the world stands in awe at the feminine grace that exudes from the wearer of this six yard of unstitched fabric. A Bengali festival without a sari is essentially incomplete, irrespective of the occasion – Pohela Boishakh, Eid, Puja, Christmas or Buddha Purnima.

This has been a time long love affair. And over the centuries the local weavers have seasoned their techniques so much so that Bangladeshi saris have gained a reputation the world over for their delicate designs and inherent quality. The comfort factor comes as a perk.

From the sari shops lining either sides of Bailey Road, to the glitzy ambiance of an Aarong outlet, the intricate lanes of Mirpur Benarasi Palli or the suave setting of Aranya – buying a sari is an experience in itself.

This week Star Lifestyle presents saris in all their glory as the nation prepares to welcome two of the biggest festivals in our yearly calendar.
