A few wise steps to make Kuakata more attractive

Local elites have placed a set of proposals to the chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) for making Kuakata tourist spot more attractive.
If picturesque Kuakata can be developed to draw more tourists from home and abroad, it will bring huge profit both to the government and private sector, said speakers at a view exchange meeting arranged by the district administration at Patuakhali Circuit House auditorium on Friday evening.
The proposal includes development of road communication to ease movement to different spots like Mishripara (where a large statue of Goutam Buddha is placed), Gangamoti and Fatrar Char reserve forests, arrangement of a tourist ship on Dhaka-Patuakhali route once a week, package tour from the Sundarbans to Kuakata through ship, special bus service from Patuakhali to Kuakata, steps to protect Kuakata beach from erosion, building a permanent stage for holding cultural programmes, construction of a cricket stadium and a market and setting up a full fledged police station in Kuakata.  

They also urged renovation of Kuakata Eco-park, setting up an ATM booth or money changer, development of communication from Kuakata to Taltali Eco-park, development of facilities at Sonar Char, an attractive tourist spot about 20 km to the east of Kuakata.
"We are trying our best to develop more facilities in different tourist spots including Kuakata the number of tourists from both home and abroad sees increase every year, adding to the government's revenue," said Maksudul Hasan Khan, chairman of BPC.
Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Amitav Sarker, Sadar upazila parishad Chairman Sultan Ahmed Mridha, secretary of Hotel-Motel Owners' Association in Kuakata Motaleb Sharif, Patuakhali Press Club president Swapan Banarjee, addressed the meeting, among others.
