9kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs official detained a man along with 80 gold bars weighing some 9.2 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital this evening.
Enamul Huq Chowdhury, 25, was held along with the gold worth around Tk 4.5 crore from the boarding bridge area around 6:30pm, said Kazi Jiauddin, joint commissioner of customs.
He arrived at the airport from Dubai by a Fly Dubai flight.
On information, a team of customs officials challenged him in the boarding bridge area and recovered the gold bars searching his body, the official added.
Enamul, who concealed the bars beneath his special undercoat, is a frequent traveler, he said.
