The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations have broken all records with 91.34 percent success rate, which is 2.31 percentage points higher than that of last year.

As many as 1,42,276 students secured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) this year, which was 91,226 in the previous year.

In eight education boards, 92.67 percent passed this year while it was 89.72 percent in 2013.

Total 93.94 percent students passed the exams under Dhaka board, 91.40 percent in Chittagong, 89.92 percent in Comilla, 96.34 in Rajshahi, 90.66 percent in Barisal, 89.23 percent in Sylhet, 93.26 percent in Dinajpur and 92.19 in Jessore.

Students of the SSC (vocational) also did well this year with 81.97 percent pass while 89.25 percent passed in Madrasa Education Board.

A total of 13,03,331 students passed the exams while 14,26,923 candidates took part in the exams under all education boards.

The number of schools with hundred percent pass stood at 6,210.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally handed over a copy of the result to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban in presence of chairmen of all the boards.

The minister announced the results through a press briefing at the secretariat in the afternoon.

From 2:00pm, examinees started getting their results from their respective centres, websites of their respective boards or from mobile phones through SMS.

The examinations began on February 9 and the written tests ended on March 20.
