9 houses vandalised in Jhenidah, Lalmonirhat

At least nine houses belonging to BNP supporters were vandalised and seven people injured in post poll violence in Jhenidah and Lalmonirhat districts on yesterday.
Our Jhenidah correspondent reported that AL activists led by ward AL president Gazi vandalised four houses of BNP supporters at Poradah village under Moheshpur upazila yesterday morning.
Two BNP supporters--Rokib Uddin and Shimul Hossain-were injured during the attack. They were admitted to Moheshpur Upazila Health Complex.
BNP activist Shahdat Hossain said the supporters of the AL-backed candidates, who have been defeated in the upazila election held on Thursday, attacked the houses of Shahdat Hossain, Azizur Rahman, Moshiur Rahman, and Lutfor Rahman at the village at around 11:00am and looted valuables and cattle worth around Tk 20 lakh.
Refuting the allegation, upazila AL general secretary Moijuddin Hamid said AL men were not involved in the indent. BNP men attacked the houses of their rival groups in the party, he added.
In Lalmonirhat, five BNP-Jamaat men were beaten up while their houses and shops vandalised alleged by AL men at Milon Bazar and Goddimari villages of Hatibandha upazila Friday night, reports our correspondent.
The injured were admitted to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex. Local said a group of AL men led by local Jubo League leader Bhuttu Miah swooped on BNP-Jamaat men and vandalised their shops and house at Milon Bazar and Goddimari.
The injured alleged that the supporters of the newly elected Hatibandha upazila parishad chairman Liakot Hossain Bachchu beat them up and vandalised their shops and houses. Liakot Hossain Bachchu refuted the allegation.
