9 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi fire

At least nine Bangladeshi and two Indian citizens were killed as a fire swept through a furniture factory in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, last night.

The victims are -- Md Jalal, Abdul Gaffar, Baha Uddin,  Shah Alam, Nazir Hossain, Md Selim, Motiur Rahman from Comilla while Md Akkas from Madaripur and Jakir Hossain from Feni.
Noor Mohammad Masum, first secretary (labour) at Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh, confirmed it to The Daily Star over phone this morning.
The fire broke out in the factory named Titas Furniture around 10:30am in Saudi local time.
All the bodies are kept in Somochi Hospital in Riyadh.
There were 13 Bangladeshi workers in the factory during the incident.
Among them four managed to escape the deadly fire.
The embassy officials visited the spot and the hospital.
The bodies will be sent back to Bangladesh soon after the completion of other procedures, the officials said.
