Police detained seven leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir of Chittagong University unit early today in connection with a crude bomb attack that left 15 university teachers three days back.
Imon Hossain, Shibir Baitul Mal (Finance) secretary of Alaol Hall, and Md Mostafa Kamal, a sathi member of CU unit, and Ansarul Haque, an activist and an informant of the party, are among the detainees, reports out Chittagong correspondent.

Hathajari police conducted a raid around 4:00am at different Shibir-dominated messes adjacent to the CU campus and detained the seven members of the pro-Jamaat student body.
“Imon and six others were held on charges of vandalising university buses and attacking the university teachers,” said Md Ismail, officer-in-charge of the Hathazari Police Station.
Of them, Imon and Kamal are the students of Journalism department of the university, the OC said.
“Ansarul, who is a staff of CU administrative building, used to inform Shibir leaders through text SMSs on campus situation before the party carries out any anarchy there,” OC Ismail said.
The rest are also students of different departments of the university, police said.
Meanwhile, Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) observed a one-hour work abstention from 11.30am today as part of their protest programme.
On Thursday, the CUTA, who have been demanding punishment to the attackers, announced to observe one-hour strike everyday for four days from today.
Contacted, CUTA President Professor Benu Kumar Dey today told The Daily Star that examinations are out of the purview of their work abstention programme.
CU Proctor Siraj-ud-Daula said presence of students on the campus was very thin.  Classes and examinations are being held at many departments, he added.
On Wednesday, at least 15 CU teachers were injured when Shibir men attacked two university buses with guns and crude bombs at Chharahpul of Hathazari upazila.
Shbir men under the banner of general students have been observing strike for indefinite period since August 31 demanding reopening of two CU dormitories.
Of the two, Shah Amanat Hall was shut following a gunfight between Shibir and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on January 12 while Suhrawardi Hall was closed following another gunfight between the two students’ organisations on August 24.
