Rapid Action Battalion detained seven members of a gang that the elite force said is involved in illegal drugs from Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area last night.

They were detained from Kamal Soroni Road in front of the GTCL building around 9:30pm, said Rab Assistant Director (Media) Abdullah Al Mamun.

The accused are Md Sagar alias Roman (19), Md Hatem Ali (19), Muktaruzzaman (19), Md Rakib Sikder (20), Alamin Hossain (19).  The other two detainees are minors.

During the drive, 60 yaba tablets and two knives were recovered from their possession.

During primary interrogation, it was learnt that they were all active members of a local teenage gang calling themselves the "Parvez Group".

They are involved in trading and consuming illegal drugs like yaba, cannabis, etc., the Rab assistant director said.

Led by Parvez, they are involved in various crimes like snatching, extortion and sexually harassing women in the local slum, Shishumela and Bangabandhu International Conference Centre areas, he added.
