7 'arms suppliers' held in capital

Five firearms, 6kgs explosives seized

Detectives of the recently formed anti-kidnapping squad arrested seven arms suppliers and seized five firearms and six kilogrammes of explosive meterials in separate raids in the capital.

The arrestees are: Md Kabil, Md Jillur Rahman, Rakibur Hassan, Md Nijamuddin, Akram Hossain, Shariful Islam alias Ashraful Islam and Khaleda Begum.

Kabil, Jillur and Rakibur were nabbed with three firearms and 15 bullets from Jatrabari area of the capital last night, Krishna Pada Roy, deputy commissioner of (South) of Detective Branch (DB) of police, said at a press briefing.

The anti-kidnapping squad members detained the three persons according to information provided by arrested eight fake DB officials at Aftabnagar in the capital last night, the police official added.

The other four were nabbed with two firearms, 13 bullets and six kilogrammes of explosives in Farmgate area on April 28, he told the reporters at Dhaka Metropolitan Police media centre.
