6 to die for killing Rajarbagh Police Telecom staff

A special court in Dhaka today handed death to six people for killing an office assistant of Rajarbag Police Telecom in Dhaka back in 2006.

Two others accused in the case were given life imprisonment. They were fined Tk 1,00,000 each and would serve for an extra year in jail for default of the payment.

Judge Shahed Nuruddin of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 passed the verdict on the murder case of Golam Shamsul Haider, assistant accountat at the Rajarbag Police Telecom.

Those handed death are Abdul Latif, accountant of the office, Anwar Hossain, office assistant, Wasim, Kajal, Hafizul and Bulbul. Shamsul and Razan have been given life.

Among the accused, four – Anwar Hossain, Wasim, Kajal and Shamsul – are now serving jail while the remaining are on the run.

According to case statements, the accused said to have carried out or assisted the slaughter of Shamsul Haider in front of his residence in the city's Motijheel area on June 9, 2006.
