6 Mymensingh devotees die on way to Ijtema

Six devotees were killed and 10 injured on their way to Ijtema ground as a bus rammed a human hauler carrying them on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh last night.

The victims are Abdus Salam, 53, Liton Miah, 35, Helal Uddin, 35, Shahjahan Kabir, 55, Akram Hossain, 25, and Ashraf Hossain, 25, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

Hailing from Trishal upazila, the victims hired the human hauler for going to Ijtema venue in Tongi to join today's Akheri Munajat, said the police.

A Mymensingh-bound bus from Dhaka crashed into the human hauler at Dhalibari around 11:30pm, killing its three passengers on the spot and injuring 13 others, said Abdul Motalab Miah, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.

The injured were whisked off to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex where two succumbed to their injuries, the OC said.

The upazila health complex referred five of the injured to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where another died later.
