6 Mohila Dal activists released

Police released six Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal activists, including two former lawmakers, around an hour after detaining them during their efforts to supply foods for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her office staff today.

The women leaders were released around 3:00pm, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Earlier in the day, police picked up six Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal activists including two former lawmakers from near Kgaleda Zia’s Gulshan office.

The detainees are: two former lawmakers (reserved) Laila Begum and Nargis Ali; and activists, Shirin Akter Rina, Jharna Khan, Rokeya Sultana Tamanna and Nilufar Yasmin Nilu.

Police chased and caught the six when at least 20 Mohila Dal activists with dry foods tried to enter Khaleda’s Gulshan office around 1:45pm, reports our correspondent from the spot.

They were taken to Gulshan Police Station.

For the ninth straight day, police continue the curb on food supplies to Khaleda's Gulshan office.
