6.65kg gold seized at Ctg airport

Customs officials detained one passenger with 57 gold bars weighing around 6.65 kilogrammes at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this afternoon.
The detainee -- Shah Hossain, 30, of Raozan upazila in Chittagong--arrived in the port city from Dubai by a Fly Dubai flight that landed at the airport at 3:30pm.
The officials searched body of Hossain while he was crossing the customs lounge after completing immigration and found recovered a gold bar from his possession, said Md Shahadat Jamil, assistant commissioner of the airport customs.
Later, officials searched the seat number C-7 of the aircraft where Hossain sat and found the rest 56 gold bars kept under the seat, Jamil told our Chittagong correspondent.
The officials estimate the price of the bars at Tk 2.90 crore.
