5 suspected militants sent to Dhaka from Ctg

Five suspected militants, including a Pakistani and a local Awami League leader, who were arrested in a Chittagong city hotel Sunday and remanded for five days the next day, were sent to Dhaka yesterday for interrogation.

For the sake of investigation they were sent there, said Banaj Kumar Mazumder, additional commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

He said detectives in Dhaka would quiz Mohammad Alam, 44, the Pakistani; Abdul Majid, 30, Shafiullah, 40, Salamat Ullah, 45, and Md Amin, 53.

Of them, Alam, vice president of Global Rohingya Centre, is also involved with Arakan Rohingya Union, according to his business card. He visited different countries in Asia, Middle East and Africa in last one year, according to his passport.

Shafiullah, human resource secretary of Naikkhyangchhari upazila AL, and Salamat, a madrasa teacher of Cox's Bazar, have an alleged link with Rohingya Solidarity Organisation.
