5 killed, 27 hurt in road crashes

Madrasa picnic bus plunge kills 2, injures 25 students in Gaibandha

Five people were killed and 27 others injured in road accidents in Comilla, Gaibandha and Gopalganj Monday and yesterday.
A correspondent from Comilla reports, two motorcyclists were killed as their bike fell to the ground on Hasnabad-Chatkhil road in Ali Laxmipur of Monohorganj upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were Mostafa Ahmed, 26, and Alauddin Ahmed, 25, of Norpaiya in Monohorganj.
Our Gaibandha correspondent reports, two madrasa students were killed and 25 others injured when their picnic bus plunged into a ditch beside Gaibandha-Balashighat road in Falia of Sadar upazila Monday night.
The deceased, Rakib Mia and Mokshed Ali, were class VIII students of Kabiria Dakhil Madrasa.
The accident occurred while the madrasa's two picnic buses carrying 107 students and teachers were returning from a spot at Swapnapuri in Dinajpur, said police.
The injured were rushed to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital.
Our Gopalganj correspondent adds, Abdullah Al Shawn, 21, was killed and two others were injured as a pickup crashed into two motorcycles in Maksudpur yesterday morning.
Jahid Mollah and Sentu Mollah were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
