48 lakh 3G users now: BTRC

The number of 3G service users jumped more than 6 times to 48.45 lakh in the nine months to July, the telecom regulator said in a statement yesterday.
Between August last year and July this year, the number of mobile users increased by 75 lakh to over 11.68 crore and the number of internet users rose by 28 lakh to over 3.9 crore.
The cost of internet fell with the increased use of internet, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said in the statement.
The government handed 3G licences to Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Airtel in October last year, while the state-run Teletalk has been providing the service since October 2012.
