4 killed in two dists road crashes

3 in Jessore, 1 in Dhaka

At least four people including a student were killed and eight others injured in two separate road accidents in Dhaka and Jessore this morning.  
In Jessore, three people including one student were killed in a road accident in Sadar upazila of Jessore this morning.  
The victims are: Abu Hamid, a third year student of Physical Education Department of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JSTU); Anisur Rahman, 22, and Khadiza Begum, 45, hailing from Chougacha, Anamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotali Police Station, told our Jessore correspondent.
The incident occurred when a Chougacha-bound good-laden truck rammed a Jessore-bound Nosiman, local motorised vehicle, in Abdulpur area on Jessore-Chougacha road around 10:45am, the OC said.
Police recovered the bodies and sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The angry students of the JSTU blocked the Jessore-Chougacha road and set fire on the truck in protest to the accident.
Locals chased the JSTU student in a bid to refrain them from setting fire on the track.
As a result, chase and counter chase took place between them leaving at least 10 student of the university injured, our correspondent reports quoting the OC.
In Dhaka, a man was killed as he fell under the wheels of a bus he was riding on at Motijheel Balaka Chattar in Dhaka this morning.
Akbar Ali, 35, who was working as a driver in a private company and resident of Matuail in Demra area, Aman Ullah, sub-inspector (SI) of Motijheel Police Station told The Daily Star.
According to the SI, Ali was badly injured when a Gabtoli-bound bus crushed him after he fell on the road while getting down from it in the area around 8:45am.
Police sent the victim to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead.
