4 killed in Meherpur road accident

Four people were killed and 30 injured as a bus overturned on a road in Meherpur town this morning. 

The bus turned turtle while taking a U-turn at Meherpur College Intersection with full speed around 10:30am, reports our Kushtia correspondent quoting AKM Nahidul Islam, superintendent of police in Meherpur.

Helper of the bus Mehedi Hasan, 22, hailed from Meherpur Hotel Bazar area and two passengers -- Sirajul Islam, 52, of Mazampur in Kushtia and Shariful Islam, 32, -- died on the spot.

A passer-by Shanto, 20, was also killed as the bus hit him just before it turned upside down, the SP said.

The injured were whisked off to Meherpur General Hospital from where four were shifted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
