4 killed, 4 hurt in Cox’s Bazar road crash

At least four people including mother and daughter were killed and four injured in head-on collision between a picnic bus and a microbus on Cox Bazar-Chittagong highway at Chakariya upazila in Cox’s Bazar this morning.
The deceased were identified as Tahera Begum, 58, headmaster of Cox Bazar Model high School, her daughter Tazmiah Ismail and Joynal Abedin, 32, driver of the microbus. Identity of the other victim could not be known immediately, reports our correspondent.
A Cox Bazar-bound picnic bus collided head on with a Chittagong-bound microbus at Baraitali point on the highway around 9:45am, the correspondent said quoting Faydur Rahman officer-in-charge (OC) of Siringa police out post.
Two passengers of the microbus died on the spot while another one met the same fate on his way to hospital, while five others sustained serious injuries in the accident, the police official said.
Of them, Tazmiah, who completed MBA from Brac University recently, succumbed to her injuries at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
With Tazmiah, her mother was going to set a venue in Chittagong for holding her marriage ceremony which was scheduled on January 23, family members told The Daily Star.
