4 die as vehicles collide in Keraniganj

At least four people, including a child and two women, were killed as a bus collided head-on with a microbus in Dakkhin Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital this afternoon.

Seven others were injured in the accident.

The collision took place around 2:45pm in Kadampur area on the Dhaka-Mawa highway, leaving three passengers of the microbus dead on the spot, said Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Dakkhin Keraniganj Police Station.

The microbus driver succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around 5:00pm, he added.

The deceased were identified as microbus passengers Ashma, 25, Tania, 14, Tuasim, 4, and driver Kawser, 35.

Locals said the microbus was going to Keraniganj from Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj while the bus was heading for Mawa from the capital.
